I bought some quail last months (2 male 8 females) they’re around 7 months old. They were on a 21% protein food and laying great but I swapped them to a 24% thinking they’d do better but I haven them gotten an egg since....So I swapped them to a 20% protein with no luck and now they’re back on the 21%...Is there something wrong with the food? I’m completely new to quail so I don’t know if this is normal. They have access to fresh water 24/7 along with grit and oyster shells.

They may just be taking a break in their laying cycle, but it is highly that the frequent feed changes have caused the stop in egg laying. Birds do not like change of any sort, and when changing feed it should be done gradually.

Well I though about doing it slowly but with my chicken s it’s never upset them it actually seemed like they always though the new feed was a treat. So I figured it wouldn’t mess with them to much. It takes them about a week to finish their feeder so they changes were once a week was that to much for them?
