Quail to Peafowl

Well, since American Cbbq are an imported species, aside from a couple of sparce imports here and there, the gene pool is virtually the same for all of the stock in the USA. Sure, there are a few breeders who selectively breed for specific color, or other desired trait, but genetically, everybody has the same stock. Since there is no standard of perfection for them, it is impossible for someone to claim that their buttons are of better quality than anyone elses. Also, if someone with "superior" lines is selling eggs like hotcakes to the quail hobbiests, anyone who hatches these eggs now have the "superior" line, and the original line is now no longer any better than what's already out there. It's all in the "marketing" as to what people will pay for average, everyday, quail eggs being touted as "super duper". Bottom line, peafowl eggs are worth a boatload more than anybody's button quail eggs.

Well markets are developed by supply and demand levels. I would look at how many eggs you each can produce respectivly, how many eggs you each want, and local value of each species. You could always off-set the trade with a cash exchange for the diffence too. If it's an educated and agreed upon trade, nobody's getting cheated, especially if the birds are to be kept and not sold. I would say some where in the neighborhood of 30 coturnix eggs per pea egg for an india blue or Black shoulder blue. In your case where they are split to peid I would say some where in the neighborhood of 50 cot eggs/ 1 pea egg. But like I said if you want 4 pea eggs and they only want a few cotunix eggs you could offset the trade with cash or whatever else you have and they want, that you are willing to trade off.

I am with Ritter on this one. 30 cot eggs for an India Blue egg sounds legit and 50 cot eggs for pied egg.

I also agree that high quality lines seem to be everywhere in the U.S. That does not mean the price should be lower though. This thread however is not about cbbq eggs. They are about Coturnix eggs, Jumbo Browns to be exact.

SAME STATEMENT APPLIES TO THEM... AS IT DOES TO MANY DIFFERENT SPECIES OF GAMEBIRD LIKE LADY AMHURST PHEASANTS. THE POINT IS WITHOUT NEW BLOOD FROM A DIFFERENT CONTINENT ITS REALLY ALL THE SAME GENE POOL

I don't have enough experience to know but I will bite on the same gene pool idea. It seems logical with only small, single importations made when then species were introduced to the US.

i would say 2 peafowl eggs for 12 quail eggs.

We agreed since we don't really care now (I also hate to do math (Cuz im good at it)) That I'm going to collect my peafowl eggs from 10-11 days, and she's going to do a few less days, and send what we collect. It's prob not going to be far, but what I see now is politic with eggs.
