1. I have button and coturnix quail that eat a 24% protein feed supplemented with oyster shell and seeds. I love giving them other treats to eat too. So far their favorites seem to be meal worms, watermelon, and spinach! What do your quails love to snack on??

2. I saw a bird snack mix that had chamomile for calming. Has anyone tried something like this for birds that are stressed over losing a mate, feather plucking, new pairing/environment, etc.? Anything similar for calming that is safe and effective for them?

Thanks! :)

:goodpost:

They also love...Shredded cabbage, especially the purple stuff. Broccoli slaw and broccoli heads. Chopped tomatoes, quartered fruit, berries, all sorts of greens, peas IN the pod, corn ON the cob, carrot slivers, mealworms, grains and seeds of all kinds, pumpkin and pumpkin seeds, squashes, watermelon, Pretty much everthing.

Yes but only as a treat I add some to their sand so they scratch around for it with meal worms too

X2 Quail are tiny and a tiny bit a day is enough of the treats. Keep the treats to about 10% of the diet, however veggies and fruits contain nutrients that quail can't get from their regular diet. Grains, seeds, wild bird seed, scratch, all are fine, just a tiny bit each day. Treats also help break up boredom and help your birds bond with you. When they see you coming with the goodie bag, you are loved for life. :D

Awesome! I always kept my quail in huge aviaries. They loved the freedom and flying! Quail live a lot longer when given the most natural environment.
