I want to try some new treats for my quail, not a major staple just a nibble here and there. I am thinking of trying plain ground beef (less tan 1/4 tsp) or maybe some cat treats or kibble. What are your thoughts? My quail are hand fed and regularly handled pets so I really enjoy giving them food that makes them cluck happy sounds.

I like to sprout mung beans and my coturnix go crazy for them. I think they like the sprouts even more than the black soldier fly larvae, which they adore. I gave them some water melon yesterday and they didn't seem very impressed. Celery and broccoli were summarily rejected.

I sprout lentils and they do go crazy for the sprouts 🌱

Mine love mealworms and micro crickets. I can't supply them with sprouts, but I'm sure they would like that too.

I gave mine some leftover cooked beef and they seemed to like it. I guess just try it and see of they like it. I think bugs are their favorite though, especially mealworms.

I know you're in Australia, but sprouting is easy. All it takes is the seeds, a quart jar, some water and patience. Unless there's some law that says you can't feed them to your birds, I don't understand why you can't supply them.
