Quail, True / False or Maybe?

i have looked at contradicting information on Quail - originally i had my 'coop' sitting with a partially open bottom on the grass ( i could move the coop around ) - so they had a bit of a free-range, - I loosened up some of the grass and dirt in the area - they seemed to like the bugs, and to dig down into the dirt. - but I found a posting (I don't think this site) - that said it was not a good idea and would increase the probability that my quail could contract intestinal worms. - he went on to say, that opening an egg from an infected bird would put you right off eggs.. True? False? or Maybe?

i aviary keep my quail 600+sq ft and there are lots of worms and stuff in the soil and the eggs are still delicious.....my only problem is that my dux eat the eggs faster than i can collect them

It would definitely increase the chances of your quail getting worms. That being said there’s ways to protect your quail. There are plenty of dewormers and many can be given even if your birds don’t have worms (just to be safe). I personally keep my quail on a patch of grass inside their pen as well and stick with natural dewormers (such as garlic) and I only grab a chemical dewormers if I know my birds for sure have worms.

that is great to know.. how do you add the garlic? chopped in mixed with feed?

My birds eat bugs literally every day. I've been eating their eggs for 2 years and so far i'm perfectly fine

Yes I chop it very finely and mix it into their food. Not everyday, maybe about once a week
