I hatched a couple quail about a month ago and one of them is flopping around on her knees. she is eating and drinking normally, but it is a bit of a concern for me so what's happening?

Sorry, you haven't received a reply yet. I don't have quail, so I'll tag @TwoCrows , and @007Sean for help.

Could you answer a few questions?

The bird in question is around one month old, correct? What are they being fed? What kind of substrate are they being kept on, and what were they kept on in the past? Do you have any pictures or a video of the bird? To post a video upload it to a video platform like youtube or vimeo, and copy/paste the link here.

How long has the bird been acting like this? Have you inspected her legs, for signs of swelling, discoloration, warm spots, lesions, and ensure all joints bend properly?

Please specify "flopping around on her knees". Is she walking on her knees, or does she flop around, almost like she has ataxia?

I agree with @Isaac 0 we need to know how you keep your birds. Not only what you are feeding them but what type of flooring and or bedding if any? Wire is very hard on tiny quail feet so if they are not on bedding, I do suggest you put down shavings or grass hay. Have you looked at this birds foot pads? And swelling to the feet? And yes correct feed is required for proper development. Are they on a Gamebird feed?

she's about a month old, her substrate is pine shavings and she is on a solid floor, no swelling I feed the quail a homemade starter because gamebird feed is very hard to find here, but I've never had any problem with the food I give them. but if you have any gamebird food suggestions it would be helpful
thanks

she walks around on her knees not really flopping

Can you get a photo of her feet, legs and hocks (her knees) so we can see what they look like?
it's very hard to get a proper picture of her legs because she's very squirmy.

Thanks for the photos! Nothing looks injured or swollen. I will have to agree with @Eggcessive she may some sort of deficiency. I would definitely get her on a good vitamin B supplement. I have had great luck with Poly Vi Sol (without the iron) a couple drops orally daily for a couple of weeks may help strengthen her muscles and tendons.
