Ok so today is day 14 so I put the Jumbo Corutnix quail eggs in lock down, but 2 days ago I had a leaker and I thought I got everything cleaned, but my incubator stinks. Will that effect the other ones? I candled and I don't see much development in anything, so I hope I still have something hatch

I hope the bacteria from the one egg that leaked didn't seep to the pore's of the other eggs

If you candled them and there is no development, those are tossers, you only need to put in the hatcher the ones that are really dark inside

Good luck!!

This is my first experience with quail eggs. i bought some from an auction and he sent 60 so I had 10 extras. 2 were broke, which by the way, when I saw that they were so small I could see why, but over the last 14 days I've had leakers. All of a sudden one day I'd turn them and have 2 stuck together. then I don't want to scrap the other egg with part of the shell stuck to it, because I don't want to break the others. so I think the stink is coming from those eggs. Ugh,

I never had this issue with chicken and Guinea eggs.

Our quail are due to hatch the same day. Only about half of mine went anywhere with development, we *think*, since there were a lot of hairline cracks...a couple of the eggs started sweating, but it was pretty clear those wouldn't go, so we threw them out. Hopefully your leaky egg won't affect the rest of your hatch

Hopefully this heat won't affect mine....lol

I honestly don't know what I'm looking at with the quail eggs, they are so hard to see through from the get go, and now that they are close to hatch, it's worse.

Yeah, I've been having a hard time seeing into them too. some of them seem pretty obvious that there's nothing there because you can see yellow right through them. I pulled one out yesturday that was super light and was one that had a lot of poop or mud or something on it and cracked it just to see and you know what I found ......nothing!

so I think I found my leaker. I am thinking about trying again if these don't hatch with someone else. Hopefully I will have better luck next time. Saturday can't come fast enough

I couldn't take it anymore and water tested a few. Some moved obviously....others not so much. It's almost as bad as having a baby....

I am not 100 percent on procedure but it's something they do to test the egg if it's late. Fill a pan or large bowl with very warm water and place an egg in it. After the water calms, if the egg moves by itself it's good. If it floats it's bad. I think I read if it floats but still sinks almost as low as a good one it's DIS. But yeah you may want to look it up elsewhere to be sure, I'm still new to birds.
