So my girls started molting about a week and change ago(they look terrible, its hilarious) but they seem to have stopped laying!
I havnt gotten more then two or three eggs in over 2 weeks.
Is it normal for them to stop laying for a bit during spring molt?
Im worried I might have screwed them up by turning their heat lamp off a little over a month ago when it started warming up again. could they be gearing up like their going INTO winter? Hence the halt in eggs? It's only now just starting to be solidly in the 60s here, days are still a bit short.
If so will they get themselves straightened out? The male with them also seems un interested mostly and youd think with spring rolling in they be going at it like rabbits.

It's perfectly normal for them to be moulting now. They do stop laying when they're in moult. My young adult pen is completely covered in feathers right now.
I was going to ask location because mine were in molt oct/nov????
