Quail with swollen foot

Bumble foot is an infection that results from an injury, bacteria from the cage floor enters and sometimes the skin heals so that it appears swollen. Bird infections are more solid than other animals so just lancing it will not result in running free. The swollen area may or may not get larger for weeks, but eventually the dark scab will appear. Looks like you caught this early so the advice given to you in an earlier thread about salt soaks is the best you can do, unless you invest in antibiotics, which are tricky in treating bumble foot. Good luck.

Is this something here? Looks a bit dark and dry/scabby from this angle, though I'm sure you would have noticed in person if there were something there.

That was just some dry poo. I've been soaking her foot in Epsom salts and examining it after each time and there still is nothing there. But swelling seems better
