Quals who make the Great escape

Pinion? Do you mean just the outer flight feathers?
I clip my African grey's outside flight feathers so she dosn't accidently fly away out the doors in the summer.
She can glide to th ground....but can't get really airborne into a tree etc.

No Pinioning Is A Permanent Solution. For Lack Of A Better Explaination Its A Distal Wing Tip Amputation--- Do A Search Here For "pinioning Quail" Monarc Had A Great Article Posted About It. Do It Once And Its Done Forever, Rather Than Trimming Flight Feathers.

I had a pharoah brown hen escape last fall, and I never found her. About 3 months later (I believe it was January or February?), one of my dad's dogs found her body in the field. She hadn't been dead for more than a day or two, so she managed to survive on her own for 2-3 months in the 'wild'.
They are fairly easy to catch, as long as they don't get into any heavy ground cover. Then they are pretty difficult to find, though a white one would be easier

They generally fly 4ft. high for about 30 feet tops, then when they land, give them about 20-30 seconds to realize that they really want to go back into the pen. They are easily collected. At least by me.
Your results may vary.

I actually did buy one of these this summer for my chicken peeps in case they got away on me. I need to attach a longer wooden handle to the small one it came on.....and I am all set.

I lived without a dip-net for about a year, then bought one about 8 months ago and haven't used it yet. It's just hanging there beside my pens.
I guess I'm just lucky.

The thing you have to remember about corturnix is....They can run just about as fast backwards as they can forwards.

I don't have any flighty birds.
