Quarantine question!

I’ve had 5 birds quarantined for 3 weeks, and put a chicken in with them on Wednesday. They look healthy overall and get moved to new grass daily, but my question is, when do I put them with my other chickens? The hen (a silkie) is laying very well. Anywhere from 4-5 eggs weekly!

I personally quarantine for 6-8 weeks. That's usually long enough to see any sort of illness. Then I start the look-but-don't-touch process.

I agree with @Overo Mare ! Better safe than sorry!

Agreed! I actually have never quarantined any birds before.

At least 6 weeks for me. It's frustrating at times and annoying to keep separate areas, but worth it if one if your newbies has something contagious.

I’m definitely going to wait for as long as possible, but I have eggs in the incubator that are due to hatch in about 2 weeks, and the chicks in the brooder currently will need to be moved to where they are being quarantined.

You can do whatever you want to! We’ll give you advice, but you don’t have to follow it. If you think they can go in soon then you can put them in (just beware). But no one can force you to do anything.
