Quasi-Watercolor 9-Patch Quilt ~ Quilting Completed~ Binding Now

just to let you know I have quite the stash (I will die the winner)
I even sent a few packages to WriterofWords earlier this year for her kids.

this is just a peak at my stash, it is not showing you the 6 or more bins in the attic full of fabric.
the shelf in the living room by my sewing cabinet

the drawer bins on the other side full

and the hall closet, only the lower half is fabric

I am not going to run out of fabric any time soon. but adding to it is always enjoyable.

Barbara, your stash sure beats mine! I want to clean out our quite large bedroom closet so I can add shelves for fabric in there. I aspire to have my stash rival your stash, LOL! You and kathyinmo are really fabric shops in disguise. If you need something in particular, ask me and maybe I'll have it (yeah, right, like I have anything you don't already have, LOL!)

you know what is a suprise of it all? I washed and ironed all that fabric too. The stuff in the attic is not washed though (I had a teacher giving lessons on quilting and she was against washing and ironing the new fabrics) I don't follow that anymore.

this is what I have in the hoop for hand quilting right now (haven't worked on it since May though)

this is the last kit I purchased, each month was a block set and the last block set is the borders. then I bought the backing. I have a total of $200 invested, it is also 3-D so I couldn't find any one who could custom quilt the top with out paying another $250 out, so it is being hand quilted after sittingin the closet for 10 years.

Barbara, I think I have enough projects in the pipeline already, but thanks so much. I don't want to plan anything until after I do Ellie's, yours and then the Tennessee Waltz quilt or I'll end up with a bunch of UFO's, too, LOL.

First border is on. Tried a purple border and it darkened the entire thing. This rosy-pink-lavender color really pulls out the stuff in the middle and brightens it up. Waiting on shipped fabric for the last border.

Question for you guys-- I probably won't get the fabric until Friday since tomorrow is Veteran's Day and the mail won't run,but as soon as it's here, the work will move forward. I have to consider the actual quilting design for the main body of the watercolor quilt and then the one for the 5-6" outer border. I realize that the quilting lines must sweep across the quilt in this type, not outline pieces because it has to flow. Would you do diagonal one direction, crosshatch lines, sun-ray type going out from one corner, big swirlies, or what? Remember, I'm quilting this one by hand, not machine, or I'd do some sort of stippling design.
