WOW! I mean...WOW! I have never seen or heard of a watercolor quilt. They are soooo beautiful! Speckledhen you did a fabulous job with the fabric you had available! It never ceases to amaze me how talented some women are! I have done a lot of things, but never a quilt. I keep saying when I retire I am going to join a quilt club and learn how. IF I retire...the way the economy is I may be at this job till I'm 80!

You can quilt! I've been quilting since the mid 80's and there is a learning curve, sure, but really, anyone can do it. I didn't even know how to use a sewing machine until a couple years ago, so prior to that (and prior to carpal tunnel), everything was done by hand and took way longer than it does now. And I didn't know back then to use good fabric and quality threads, either. Couldn't afford them if I had known, but I made lots of stuff anyway.

Well, I think this quilt is gorgeous. I may be a bit biased (pun intended).

The talent lies not only in the color used and of course, technique but in listening. Cynthia gets a "feel" for what another person likes and puts it all together and Voila! A quilt is born.

It takes a LOT of talent to do something that someone else likes in someone elses colors. Shoot, I couldn't even do it in the colors or style that I like much less someone elses.

Hats off to you, Cynthia!!

Ellie, I'm sure you will be pleased when the borders are on. I'll order the backing and the green for the front border tomorrow.

Kate, the watercolor technique is more challenging to me with my bad eyes than other types. I did have trouble with this one, but thank goodness I have a willing DH who was an art major in college and helped so much in "seeing" for me when I was confused about what should go where.

This will be the backing for Ellie's quilt:

Thank you! I just ordered the backing material and some nice green for the outer 6" border from thousandsofbolts.com. Saved enough on just one of the three yards of backing to pay shipping for the entire order. Thanks for that recommendation, NanaKat, and the samples. They ought to pay you commission for talking them up!
