Queen of the Coop - Ode to Fowl

[hikerchick]

She is the Queen, she rules the roost
She really is amazing
She flies to her perch way above
The place where fools are grazing

Above them all, she preens herself
Her fans, she knows, demand it
And when they don't bow down to her
She simply cannot stand it

She bucks and clucks and flaps her wings
It's really quite amusing
She loves to win the masses over
She cannot abide losing

Although she tries to act a friend
She really is a bully
And someday, when the time is right
She'll understand that fully.

The blue hen saw the coop one day
The hens inside were squawking
They seemed to be a cheerful group
So she went in and started talking

The other hens ignored her
They didn't seem to care
About her thoughts and feelings
Or what she had to share

And so she just squawked to herself
And still they couldn't stand it
They asked her to stop clucking
One even dared demand it

But this blue hen would not be stilled
She really cannot cease
She'll fly up to the rafters
And she will be at peace

Such great poems!

The first one reminded me of my Petunia. She is the boss of the yard. I'll never get babies out of her, because she has the 2 roos completely cowed!

The second one reminds me of my mix. She really doesn't fit in, and she doesn't care. She wanders around by herself, and roosts far away from the others. I worry about her, but she seems happy.

The last one...well, what can I say?

Great tribute to a great lady!

You definitely have a wonderful gift!
