I know there are horse lovers on here! My neighbor has a papered paint but she is kind of old. She was born in 99. She is looking to sell or rehome her. Just wondering what a horse like that would be worth? Is she too old to find a home.

Her worth is what she can do, health status, and your location. While older horses may require medication in order to continue be rideable, they can continue to serve the people who own them. If you are interested in purchasing this horse for your own use, have a prepurchase exam on the mare. If you are simply planning to flip her, you'll have to check your local craigslists, newspapers and see what similar aged horses are selling for. Around here a proven child safe horse at that age in good condition sells for around 1,000 bucks. One that has a talent such as barrel racing might sell for 2,000 or so.

I was just curious. She very pretty though I could never take care of her. I have too little of kids and am on my own a lot. I know that when they first got her two years ago she was ridden a couple times but she just sits in the field. I’m sure someone with more experience could probably get use out of her. Hmm. She would give me the horse if I wanted it. I wanted to put my daughter in riding lessons this summer but the chances of her riding that particular horse that doesn’t know us that well is slim to none. I could feed the horse and keep it alive pretty much. I did want a horse in the future but my husband told me it would be better to have a horse from a young age that our kids could grow up with. I just wanted to help her rehome the paint since she is moving and it would probably be up to me to feed it every day. Although my husband said he wouldn’t buy the horse but he would let me take care of it if she gave it to me. I know she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Taking on a horse is a big responsibility. Buying a young horse for a child can be disastrous. My parents did the same thing and I ended up with a broken arm, broken ribs and a dislocated hip. Old schoolmasters are priceless. Having your child take lessons is a great idea!

I know. I think he was just saying a horse that they could build a relationship now that they could ride when they are much older. Like almost off to college older. Ha ha!

The only reason I haven’t said “I’LL TAKE HER!” Is I know that horse would become my life. I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about her. I would not get any of my house chores done lol.Maybe I couldn’t ride her but I could bring her an apple and stare at her forever lol. I think her hooves need a trim.

She’s dirty you guys. Realize that my neighbor works full time and has seven kids and her husband is a truck driver so she is a busy lady. This is why I suggested the rehome. Her mom was supposed to be caring for her but she has other priorities. I’m not making excuses. If these pictures make you angry I understand. I know this horse needs more attention.
