Question about Ameraucanas

I was wondering, why do some people spell the breed Americana instead of ameraucana? Is there a difference?

Americana is more of a "brand name" so to say, for what one would call a mutt chicken. They are also known as Easter Eggers. They're usually a cross of Ameraucana or Araucana with any other breed of chicken. They have a wider variety of egg color/feather color etc. They're usually cheaper. Ameraucana is a true breed vetted by the APA. They usually lay blue eggs like the Araucana and only have certain APA standards. They're all capable of being or producing amazing eggs and birds. Araucana and Ameraucana are just "pure" blood chickens.

Americana and Americauna are just misspellings of Ameraucana.
If they are advertised as Americana, Americauna, or Easter Egg chickens, you can be sure they are NOT really Ameraucanas. If they can't get the name right, they don't know what they have.

We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Ameraucana breed of chicken and the name "Ameraucana"...1978 - 2018!
