Question about Barred Rocks

Yep, the degree of dark wash varies alot, but is most common in hatchery stock.The skin and legs are still yellow. The above pullet has nice leg color. Actual black legs are a problem in BRs. Never have seen that at all. Here is a BR pullet, 16 weeks old.

Hey Chad, your BR aren't still chicks are they? Don't the chicks have black legs that change to yellow as they grow up? Seems like I remember my BR chicks having black legs . . . am I wrong?

No, Chris, the BR chicks have pinkish legs as babies, the pullets with some black wash down the fronts. The pink changes to yellow. I'd think it was a cross if it had black legs.

The chick in the foreground below is the same pullet I posted above. The one at the feeder is a Black Orpington, who does have black legs.

My barred rocks are 6 weeks old, and I was looking at them last night and I guess I would have to call it a wash down on the front also. maybe a little bit more than a wash down. But im still very happy with my chickens, ill love them all the same!!!

mine are 25 weeks and they has some black on the front too.

the ones with black on the front of their legs are pullets all yellow are cockerels
