Question about behavior after a predator

sorry to hear about your mick

I know it's awful to loose one, especially when it's your favorite, good luck with the huting though, coyotes are tough to get but maybe you will get lucky. I have been very diligent about locking everyone up securely and haven't seen any tracks or signs anywhere, so I think if you make it look like a difficult meal to get it will go somewhere else for an easier target..

I'm so sorry about your roo!

I'm sure he was being a hero and fighting for your hens.

I lost my bossy head hen over night too. We are not sure what got her. I like to think she got taken because she was protecting the others. I don't know if that's true but it makes me feel better.

Good luck on your hunt.

I generally don't give up hope until after the chicken has been missing for 48 hours. Even after finding a pile of feathers. The odds are against it but I've had them return after three days. I can thoroughly empathize and shedding tears isn't silly. I'm a veteran who has seen combat and I still tear up when one of my birds come up missing or is killed.
