Question about bonemeal

I've heard of people feeding their chickens bonemeal to help enhance the color of their eggs. Does this work? if so what kind do you use and how much to you feed them?

Hi Amarisus,

I doubt it would enhance the egg colour... And bonemeal can lead to soft shelled egg laying if it's overdone. It can be good in small quantities for growers, but I wouldn't feed it to layers as a rule.

But are you talking about enhancing the yolk colour? In that case corn and grass are best. Grated carrot helps. For shell colour, I'm sorry as I don't really pay attention...
