My neighbor gave me 3 green eggs from her EE. The father is a barred rock. I'm looking for the barred rock color with the EE look. Is it possible the green egg gene will be passed down if I get a hen?
Will this happen or am I out of luck? I have a few other eggs under there for her to take back and I'm keeping the 3 green egg ones. My Cochin is doing fabulous as far as sitting goes. I've been bringing her water and her favorite treats to eat. I put handfuls of starter food right in her nest box and boiling eggs.
I wanted her to sit so badly since she was being picked on by the others. Her feathers are all growing back and she's taking a liking to the new 3 babies I brought home in march. They are 12-14 weeks old and sit by her everyday. So sweet!
My cochin is happy again and no longer stressed! She's making her happy noises as she once did. She's one of my favorites, so I can't rehome her. I made her a saddle, but revising it for the winter, so they won't pick her wing bows or front. All will be Velcro, so there's an option to remove if needed.
WOOT! For hatching chicks. If it works of course!
