I forgot to ask this morning when they called to let me know when my order was going to be shipped. Anyways does Cackle send extras or if when you order 15, that is what you get?

I ordered 15 BO chicks from them last spring and received 16. I ordered 5 cockerels & 10 pullets. Not sure what sex the extra one was though because I lost a few to a huge snake that got in the brooder!

Thanks! I just wanted to mentally prepare my dh:D if he's looking for 15 chicks and finds more when he comes home from work, I'm thinking he'll be mighty suspicious:D I don't have any problems with extras. It would actually be nice to get a few more thrown in. They'ed probably be roos, but maybe I can convince dh to let me keep them haha.

I ordered 25 RIR pullets and 5 straight run RIRs, knowing that at least 2 or 3 of the straight runs would be cockerals. I was right. 3 were cockerals. I ate one and have the other 2. They sent 32 chicks in all.

usually they dont send a whole bunch of extras, of course i wouldnt be offended if they did. but they do put enough in there to ensure you get all you were expecting incase of casualties. ive always had 1or 2 extras of each breed i ordered . and since i very very rarely have any DOAs from cackle i always make out pretty well!

I went in with a couple of friends on an order from them. We did get extras, and the extras were of the same breed we ordered. I was pretty happy with the birds i got from them, especially the BR's and Cochins.

I ordered four different breeds from Cackle, some straight run and some pullets, 27 chicks total. Part of this order was 6 straight run Buff Orps. I received 28 total chicks. The extra was a Buf Orp. All 7 Buff Orps were pullets.

All 28 arrived alive and lived.
