Question about candling

I have a question I have been unsure about candling, I have seen some people say you should candle an egg from the same end as the airsac, so the top of the egg. While I also see candlers that are a base unit, like the Brinsea one, so you can to flip the egg over to candle fromt eh aircac end.

Can anyone let me know if you are able to turn an egg upside down to be able to candel it in these devices? I have seen conflicting information on this.

I’m not an expert with this yet only just started to incubate my own eggs but what I have done with candling is I use a torch with and attachment that I am able to move around the egg while keeping the egg the same angle as it was in the incubator only needing to turn the egg a little bit to get a quick view inside of the egg hope someone with more experience can give you better information hope this helped

Well I'm probably the least experienced.

I've only candled on this 1 batch of eggs over the last 3 weeks.

For me to see anything I've had to do it from the bottom wade area. It helps to use a flashlight with high lumens. I've got a few flashlights and one does it really well. The other isn't quite as good. But if you just experiment with it a bit it'll make sense. You can look at your flashlights to see what kinds of lumen counts they have.

You aim the light into the void spot of the bottom of the egg where there's not much there, and it lets you see more about what's going on.

Just try it a bit.

After you do it a few days in a row it becomes a bit fun.

(But you shouldn't keep the eggs out of heat for very long. I also hope someone with more experience comments.)

Yeh I have a Brinsea candler, which works very well, my only real concern is am I causing harm to the emryons from turning them from pointy side down, to pointy side up to put them on the candler?

It would seem silly of a company like Brinsea to sell something that would cause harm directly, but I still don't 100% trust it, would be great if I could hear from someone who has experience with this particularly candler too!!
