Question about carton hatching

Quote:
Would think by lifting one end of the incubator. The temp. would not stay the same at egg level . temp.at the lower end to cool, higher end to hot.

Hmm good point...what if it's a forced air?
I have a bulb themometer in the lower part and it says 99-100ish.
I plan on getting another temp tomarrow, so I'll put one on each end and see if it fluctuates...and I thought I was being clever. Lol.

Personally, I don't think the carton method is any different than the egg turners, as far as the height goes, unless you use them for hatching, which is not the case here. The question that MagsC asked was: "so I put them (the eggs) on their side. Would this harm them?"

My instructions that came with my bator and turner both say to take them from the turner on day 18, and lay them on their side . Just go with the instructions that came with the bator...they're there for a reason...

I'm doing my first hatch in the egg carton method and I surely can't complain. I did use an egg turner up till day 18 too. I've had 5 of 7 eggs hatch beautifully in the egg carton and it really helps to reduce the mess of hatching.

Well, it sounds like the consensus is, if I have a LG, I shouldnt use the cartons because of the eggs getting too close to the heating element. And since the TX6 is a little too small for cartons, its on the side again.
Nope deerman, I havent been turning the eggs end over end, lol. But its an honest question.

I wouldn't think the egg cartons would put the eggs any closer to the heating element than the egg turner does. I have the egg turner made for the LG and just by eyeballing it it doesn't look like there would be a difference.

Letting them set there for the last days in the carton is fine. it is the same lvl as a turner.
I thought they were asking if the could turn with the cartons in there from day 1-18.
Like propping one end up higher than the other. That's what made me say it'd be too close to the heating element. Not just sitting level in the carton in the incubator.

Thats what I meant, I have been turning them around to make one level higher three times a day BUT on the outer side of the LG so it wasnt right up by the heating element. Maybe I shouldnt have been doing that?
Well, for the next couple of hatches anyway I am going to just lay them on their sides, though once I am using the LG as a hatcher I might set them in cartons.
