question about cheeping and internal pipping

i have an egg that is now moving into day 23. i heard it cheeping and tapping on day 22. some hours later the shell had a pip in it but once more shell broke around that area i can see the membrane is intact and the beak is just pushing against that. am i right that the chick could not therefore have internally pipped?

the egg shape is a little uniform without an obvious wider end but it looks to me like it has pipped....if i can call it that, at the wrong end.

does it need help? it is resting a lot but i can still see movement.

well at 3am i made a small hole in the membrane so it could breathe.
this morning it is alive and cheeping but has made no progress at all. it is day 23. i have looked up the assisted hatch thread and will leave it now and try and get some sleep. i think she is well and tuly stuck. there looks no room to move at all. the egg is on a damp cloth with another damp cloth covering. her first pip (though not through the membrane, only the shell cracked) was 13 hours ago at least.
any advice?

I can't offer any advice from my own experience, but it can't hurt to try and help at this point. The assisted hatch thread seems to cover all the bases.

I could be wrong, but wouldn't it have had to internally tipped to be able to cheep?

i'd love to know the answer to that.
chick is nearly out. i helped it some more between 6.30 am and 7am as it had made no progress in nearly 4 hours. it looks like a huge chick and i think it cannot turn in the space. it is chirping regularly and making some attempt to wriggle out now.

i hope it survives....

They need to be able to breathe in order to cheep, so yes, if you hear them cheep they have pipped internally.

Remove some of the shell and check the inner membrane, especially near the chick's belly area, so you can check the yolk sac absorption. If there's no visible blood vessels and no sign of yolk she can come out. Good luck!

i am still puzzled. she has hatched and is looking good as far as i can tell. but the air sac is certainly the opposite end to the pip so i've no idea how i heard her cheeping as when she pipped the shell, the membrane was still intact.
she looks a big chick in a bantam egg. the yolk sac is completely absorbed. she was attached to the shell by a very thin membrane which has now come away i think ...at least the shell is no longer attached. just hope she makes it now. she still sounds cheerful.

She found a little breathing space in there, clever girl! It sounds like she's doing very well with the hatching. If the yolk etc has been absorbed and there is no blood she can come out now.
