question about cheeping and internal pipping

well she is hatched and looking like a newly hatched chick looks. so far so good but i know it's early days. yes the yolk was all absorbed and no blood.
thanks

she is getting on well. i keep waiting for it all to go wrong after all the advice not to assist and poor outcomes but she seems healthy right now.
i keep hoping. these were never expected to hatch having been eggs stored in the fridge.

I have assisted many chicks and most of them have survived and grew up fine. As long as there is not something wrong with the chick, like a handicap of some sort, and the assist is done correctly it can have a good outcome.

well i read the assisted hatch thread and a lot of your advice to people , sumi, so thanks for that. the main thing i learned was to do things slowly. once she had a breathe hole i was able to relax a bit and leave her for hours. i was relieved the yolk sac was all absorbed.

her dad was a cochin and her mum a pekin (bantam cochin) so i wonder is she inherited the larger genes. i never intended to breed the pair. when the fox had most of my flock, i decided to give it a go with what i had.
thanks again.

You are welcome. That is the hardest lesson I've learned when assisting: take it slow, give the chick time. I've lost a few chicks when I started assisting, because I was impatient and didn't give the chicks enough time. It was a heartbreaking lesson, that one.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss

I nearly, nearly lost my hen to a critter just this morning. I'm not sure what it was though.

any pics of the survivor?

i've taken some and now have to upload on my computer. i will try and do it. today has been my tax return and tomorrow i am out most of the day.she is so much bigger than the other chick who was hatched a day earlier. no wonder she got stuck.lol

ok these are my chicks that i never thought would hatch because the eggs had been in the fridge. the one with the darker eyes is the one i assisted to hatch as she was stuck. now they are both thriving at 3-4 days old.
