Question about culling due to respiratory illness

If one chose to cull a bird that was showing symptoms of a respiratory illness, would the bird's meat then be safe to eat? If it wasn't treated with antibiotics (which I think would survive being cooked), but only had a runny nose and eyes, would the virus or bacteria that caused the symptoms then be killed when the meat is cooked?
Just curious.
