New to ducks here...I just read that drakes will try to breed with anything. Do I need to keep my duckling away from its father duck? I don't want my duckling hurt...please answer!

Welcome to BYC and to keeping ducks.

Your ducklings should live separately from older drakes, including their father, until they are 5 or 6 months old. Drakes will try and mount ducklings. They may even kill male ducklings -- the drake will know which are male ducklings before you do.
