question about geese nesting season?

i read somewhere that geese have to eat greens before they can lay eggs? is this true? if so, will a bale of alfalfa help them start up? mine should lay their first eggs soon!!!

I don't think that's correct I have two chinese geese and they just started laying about two weeks ago and they have no greens at all, they're almost laying an egg a day

Agree with starfliker. Light and maybe temperature is what sets them off laying.

The amount of light more so than temps because mine started laying a month ago. Most of the eggs have been frozen due to the super freezing temps. I am in the midwest in MO.
