question about how long eggs stay fresh

I'm traveling for easter and I"m taking eggs home for my family.
I don't have a cooler that will fit in the car to keep them cool on the way home.
They are currently i the refrigerator.
Will they be ok if I take them out of the refrigerator for about 6 hours and they get to room temperature and then refrigerate them again.

I'm not sure if the cold, warm, cold change will cause them to spoil or not. Thanks.

I left a dozen eggs in my car for a whole day out of the fridge that I was suppose to give to my uncle. He got them the next day and didn't complain so I guess they were still good. Wish I could help more.

Eggs stay fresh at room temp pretty well, for weeks or even months, and I don't think bringing refrigerated ones up to room temp then refrigerating again should be a problem. I wouldn't put them in direct sum, though. If they are unsure they can always crack them into a bowl by themselves before using. They will know if they are bad! I've done the same thing you are talking about more than once when giving them away and they probably stayed out that long at room temp a few times.

Depends on what you are used to. In Europe eggs are not stored in the fridge, but on the kitchen counter. They wonder why us crazy Americans take up valuable fridge space by refrigerating eggs.

We store eggs in the fridge to make them last longer, but the reality is that eggs can last for 2 weeks unrefrigerated. (They can probably last longer than that, but I am not willing to test it.) Egg quality deteriorates faster at room temp than chilled. Egg whites get runnier and yolks get weaker. If you are used to having your eggs sunny side up, then refrigerate them to keep your yolks from breaking easily. If you prefer your eggs hard boiled, then leave them on the counter so they age faster and peel easier. It's all a matter of personal preference.
