My bator humidity is running so weird here is what is going on.

If I add water it runs 70-80 (Even A Little it runs high)

If I dont add water and let what water is in it dry up it runs 30-45%

I have always filled up the wells filling it every couple of days and it ran between 40-50%.

I have a accurite temp/hydro meter I got at walmart.

Did the humidity test on it and it was only running 2% off it read 73% when it should have been 75%.

So could it really be running between 30-40 with no water? I need advice.

I have 6 turkey eggs in there and 24 chicken eggs.

I've got a homemade bator in my basement which is running at 49% with no water added. Sounds like the humidity outside of the bator is also high and it needn't water to maintain it until you have to up it to 70-75% the last 3 days. Lucky you..., it sounds like you've got the right numbers without, and with, water!

Yeah, just don't add water... as others has stated.. As long as the humidity is within the correct ranger .. you're good to go.

Hatch those eggs....

If you meant that you removed both vent plugs and it didn't make any diffference in the temperature and humidity then I would leave both of them out. The more oxygen the better as long as it doesn't lower the humidity too low or drop the temperature.

You might pull the other plug and see what happens...with high humidity in your area I doubt the incubator will dry out too much with the other vent opened. As I mentioned, the more air the better...especially as time goes by and the embryos grow.

I checked the weather for Prestonsburg (just picked a city in east KY) and it looks like some storms for the next few days and the RH at 73% currently. Even if inside with an AC running I'd bet your humidity levels stay up.

What are your current incubator readings?
