Question about ideal hatchery ??

No tracking with Ideal. But I've learned those tracking #'s don't do any good anyway - by the time the USPS updates it, it's already been delivered!
That is because it's not really a tracking number unless you send it Express, the other deliver methods are mostly a delivery confirmation number that happens to sometimes get scanned and tracked in the system... I ship A LOT of things USPS and I have to explain this probably a dozen times a week to people, about it not being a real tracking number just a delivery confirmation number... If someone wants real tracking go with FedEx overnight, they track quite well, but the other 'slow' FedEx shipping methods tracking has got worse this years since they switched to trains over trucks/planes for many cross country hops... They scan it when it's loaded on a train and again when it comes off, this could be a 3-4 day trip with no updates...

They have updated the wording on the site over the years but this is what it currently states...

No, they are tracking #'s. You can enter it in USPS.com and it will tell you where it's been, but none of that is usually updated until after you've received it.

I ordered through Ideal and I had a great experience. I didn't get a tracking number either but I don't think there was any point. I live in SE Iowa and they made it from TX overnight and in great shape.

As I said read their website, it clearly says differently... Even though they call it tracking and even though it is 'sometimes' scanned at a point it's not really tracking and they flat out state that on their site...

The only way you get real tracking with the USPS is to use Express Mail, anything else is really just delivery confirmation...

I quote with emphasis, directly from the USPS site...

That's funny, because all 3 packages I got from Cackle were all sent 3 Day Priority, not express. For each one I was e-mailed a tracking #. The tracking # would show the item being accepted at USPS Origin Sort Facility, and that's all it would show until after delivery. Check later on the day of delivery and it would show all the stops on the way.

Ideal doesn't e-mail the tracking #'s, but they are on the box, and you can enter those in online and also see the route of your package.

Well called and found out my birds did ship a day early and the lady was nice enough to give me a usps tracking number. So I can fantastically check it hourly knowing it updates at the speed of snails mating lol.

And start worrying when the estimated arrival date is a day or two too long... (but not to worry, because it's always off, and it comes on the correct day that its supposed to)

With Cackle I'd get my tracking # e-mailed to me Monday night, and it would have the arrival date as Thursday - and the first time I was worried that the birds wouldn't make it, as that would be 4 days in transit instead of 3. But they have always come Wednesday, no matter what the tracking # says. And of course if I check the tracking # Tuesday, it would just say that they were received in MO. Then later Wednesday it would update and show all the stops.

Thank god I asked for a tracking number....was able to find out my chicks were held up at the Reno post office. I have 26 happy heathy chicks. However I also found out while I was gone picking them my dog ate my chick starter :/. I should have pics up tonite or tomorrow. No silkies. So d'uccles, Cochin, and fizzles. Which is fine because from what I've read ideals silkies aren't very good quality. I think I'm going to see who feathers out into what before I sell them.
