question about Metronidazole and how to give it.

so I have a hen with a canker. I did my research and it's 100% a canker, she probably got it from prolonged use of antibiotics (because of her crd). No one else in the flock has it.

It's spread down under her tongue, as well as her cheek and I've been cleaning it almost daily as well as syringe feeding her because she can't eat on her own.

my question is with the metronidazole does it need to wash/come in contact with the canker to work, aka everytime she drinks from her water bowl that has the metrondazole it comes in contact with, or can I syringe feed it her (still using the dosage on the packet) every few hours because it doesn't need to come in contact with the canker to work.

Mentronidazole is given orally, can be pills, or mixed in water, doesn't have to contact the canker. More info here:

Canker (Trichomonosis) is caused by flagellated protozoa and is very contagious. You sure you're not seeing thrush or possibly it's just lesions/mucous from CRD (Mycoplasma). Long term antibiotic use can cause further issues, so unless she's really struggling, it's best not to treat every runny nose. Sadly, abx only go so far in treating symptoms and if you aren't giving the appropriate/correct dose or type of antibiotic to treat symptoms, then you just build resistance which makes things even harder to treat.
