Question about my peacock

I bought a 9 month old male to add with my peahen 2 weeks ago. I kept him in a coop for more than a week. I turned him out yesterday and he seemed content to socialize with everyone. When it came evening the hen flew up into a try as did the free range chickens. He never tried. So we picked him up and put him back in the pen for safety. My question is what would cause him not to be able to fly? Or maybe he doesn't know he can?

If he is tame enough to be picked up he probably does not realize what he can do.

We were thinking that too. He has flight feathers but I haven't looked at the ends of his wings.

My IB Male doesn't fly wither, and he does not perch with teh rest, he stays on the ground, Not sure why he never tries, he is about 10 Months old.
