Question about my roosters' behaviors..

Be glad he's stuffing his face now, when he matures he won't eat nearly as much. I honestly worry about my boy and try to sneak him a little extra but it never works, immediately he trades his treats for fanny. :)
My Rooster is Huge and yes, he really tidbits for the Ladies ...He can't be hungry though for the size of him...HUGE!...Glad he is Docile...:lau

I had a buff orp cockerel and didn't even know he was a boy until he was about 16 weeks old. Until that point he had zero interest in doing rooster things. I'd just give him more time. My buff orp didn't crow until he was 19 weeks and didn't start trying to mate w/ the girls until he was about 17 weeks. IDK if it was b/c I had other cockerels, or b/c he was a late bloomer, but once he started getting interested in the ladies he went full force, chasing them down and jumping on them. He was also huge and I was worried that he'd hurt my ladies. He jumped on my tetra brown and you couldn't even see her under him. :( I gave him away to a guy who wanted him for breeding.

Ha! I think mine is probably eating fine too he's not skin and bones by any means. I just don't see him eat so i worry. The hens though, no need to worry about them at all. :)

HA yes.. I've never seen a rooster eat so much in my life like my young BO does lol. He is starting to "do" his job. When he's not stuffing his face he is paying attention to the surroundings. I have grown very fond of him, but I do miss my last rooster. He was a PBR and I saw him eat twice and I have no idea how he lived. He constantly was looking around and at the sky and never left the girls alone. He was beautiful and BIG.

Yep, anytime I tried to sneak food to my old BPR rooster he would just give it to the girls anyways. What a guy lol.

The family I received my BO from also didn't know he was a rooster either until he was 3 months old.. then he started crowing. Now he is 5 months and does his scratchy-puberty crow and will do some rooster things like dancing around the ladies and flaring out his neck feathers only to the dogs when they went racing by him and the flock. Other then that he is pretty quite. Literally runs to me. I don't even get a chance to whistle to them and he sees me. It cracks me up when I have company over and we go outside hahaha.. they all want to know why the entire flock of birds is headed this way lol.

Mine was the same way. I never had a problem with him going after the kids or me. He was very friendly and we only had one incident where he grabbed ahold of my daughter's finger and wouldn't let go. He never pecked it anybody. But I had three boys and only 12 girls so I needed to get rid of someone. And of the boys, he was the first one chosen. Oddly enough when the guy came to get him he pecked him. I was surprised because we hadn't seen anything like that from him. The best part of the whole story is I have a little Bantam Cockerel and early on he had been doing the little wing dance for my buff orp. He was very surprised when he found out Steve was a boy and They would stand on the opposite sides of the fence raising hackles. I loved watching him run too. Not very graceful at all.
