Question about ordering chicks

I've ordered twice from hatcheries and they've been spot on, probably a total of about 15 chicks altogether.  Which breeds are you looking at?  Tractor supply sells sex links, which are pretty much 100% guaranteed.  

Not real particular about breed mainly because I'm not educated in the different breeds to be honest. Just starting out and trying to figure everything out.

On another thread i had going someone (cant remember name) told me about a website that helps u pick based on different criteria. From the list they gave me i like the Rhode Island reds and i think the other was called Plymouth Rock. They just were the too that caught my eyes.

I live near OC. I really don't have to pay much attention when I consider breeds, even regular combs haven't frozen here. I do try to shy away from white, due to birds of prey. I just decide which personality I want and go with it! (My barred rocks weren't nice at all, but they were from a hatchery. maybe if you got some from a breeder they would be nicer.)

nathana~ I see you are in Chesapeake, are you ordering your eggs from a hatchery and, if you are, have you found one that is close by? I live in Gates and will be ordering chicks soon and have been trying to find a hatchery that I know is close enough by to get my chicks ASAP.

If you order bantams, they're sold as ST Run. Some ornamental breeds might be St Run, but yes mostly they sell them in the three options.

Wow ok, I just its just rare because they are mostly to small to check if female/male easily. =)
