I have 10 silkies. 2 of them are 7 weeks on Monday, and my little ones are 3.5 weeks. When is it okay to put them all outside? I don't want to move the older ones out, and then the little ones later, since I want them all to stay together.

Should I wait until the little ones are 5-6 weeks, and move them all then? Or would it be okay to do it sooner since I have older chicks to help keep them warm?

Yep, they have a coop with an attached run -- just have to get hubby to make me a door for it, since for whatever reason there was no door from the run to the coop....

It's been about 80's during the day, but gets pretty low at night, still... high 40's, low 50's.

Hi, I was thinking this same question .My chicks are 4.5 wks and 1.5 wks,
I have them in different brooders but hope to put them all out together at some point.

I know for Silkies you want 5-6 weeks, when they are fully feathered. I'm not sure how it goes for other breeds.

Though if you're somewhere where it stays nice and toasty at night...

I would kick them out, personally. I put my 7 week old Silkies (2) outside when we were still having temps in the mid 30s and they're A-ok. You have 10 chicks, they'll make a cuddle puddle on the floor and keep each other warm :)

Great. Gotta get hubby off his butt to make me my door, so I can put them out! 10 in a small room gets stanky rather quick! LOL
