Question about possible egg eater.

I came home today to check my chickens. i am getting 3 eggs a day. today i only had 2 and the eggs were sticky. found where one egg had been eaten. my question is if the egg got broke while another one was getting on the nest and they ate it do you think this could a onetyime deal or a possible problem. it has never happened before.

There is no way to know if you have an egg eater from just one incident. It very well could have been kicked around or stepped on. I find mine in the middle of the coop soemtimes - which is the reason we line everything with straw.
