Question about puppy shots??

we do but we are really careful not to let our girls out of our sight, and no leash free parks

Yes this is his first set of shots. We just got him last Wednesday. My kids like to ride bikes down the street and I wanted to take him for a walk but didn't know if that was a good idea or not?

What I read (and followed) was to not expose my pup Kane to other dogs until he had completed his series of shots. He was exposed to our other shepherd of course, but Jax, the older dog, had all his shots.

At his age you only need 1 booster. You should wait 3 weeks to revax, and then I would wait 2 more weeks. Parvo is RAMPANT this time of year, I would not have any puppy out that I was not certain was protected.

Personally I don't see the point in keeping puppies locked up. Odds are greater they got something from the vet office when you took them in for shots than picking up something from an area that is not high traffic for other dogs. I wouldn't go taking him to petstores, dog parks, etc... but I'd see no problem taking him just off your property for a short walk or play with the kids. The same time that people try to isolate their puppies is the age that they most need exposure in order to have the best chance at growing up to be well adjusted canine citizens. I think any risk of possible exposure to an illness is well worth the good mental exposure and training a puppy will get out of it. Again this is if we are talking about low traffic areas and not somewhere that large numbers of dogs or dog owners frequent.

Thanks. We have alot of people that walk there dogs down our street. Parvo is very strong around our area and I think I will just wait till he get's his booster to make sure he is covered.

I would wait. Parvo seems to be bad everywhere. When I have pups I give them their first 5 way shot at 6 weeks and then again at 8 weeks. I ask the new owners to ask their vet if they should have a third one. Some vets do and some vets don't. But I vaccinate early so the pups have at least two in them before they leave here. Just in case the new owner doesn't follow through with a puppy well check at their vets.
