Question about shipped eggs

I received in the mail today eggs that were shipped last Monday. That would make them at least 8 days old. They have been resting for about 6 hours. Would it be better to wait 24 hours before putting them in the incubator, or because of their age put them in sooner? Thoughts appreciated.

That is up to you. I would put them in now and NOT turn them for 4 or 5 days. Thats me tho.........

I have bought many shipped eggs.Some good,some bad.If they were mine,they would go in now.JMO.Take care and good luck with your hatch.

Did these eggs get shipped to you Priority?? They should have gotten to you before now... I would put them in as soon as you can, with a little rest of course, but i dont know what kind of damage could have been done to them being on the move for so long... hopefully someone can help you more.. keep us posted though...Good Luck!

Yeah, I thought that people would think, "No! Not the refrigerator!" I made a pretty sweet incubator with an old restaurant fridge, a replacement brooder element, a fan, and a pan of water for humidity. Voila! The Refrigerbator!

Eggs at 8 days old are not old. If the eggs don't have any moving or broken air cells, you can set them right away, but if any air cells are moving, it's better to let them sit longer. I like 92caddy's idea of setting them and not turning for a few days, but I believe that turning is more critical in the first 7-10 days of setting.

Eggs don't really start losing their 'hatchability' until after 10 days old, so letting them wait a day is fine.
