Question about the HovaBator 1588.....

I don't know anybody personally down in the states that could purchase one for me and ship it up here, so it's probably cheaper to just order it myself.

I'm just so excited to be ordering a bator to try it out!! What is everybody's success hatch rates with the 1588??
We are in the middle of deciding whether to order about 20 day old chicks from our local hatchery which we have to place the order 1 month ahead, or borrow our friends rooster and see if we can't cross breed our chickens and hatch the eggs, which either way will be in the same time frame, my hubby wants to get something going either way so that the birds will be ready in the autumn to cull. I also want to try out some breeds to keep which means hubby has to build more than just one new coop soon

My hatch rate depends on whether you're talking shipped eggs vs my own eggs. My own eggs I get close t0 100% most of the time, but with shipped eggs it has run the gamut from 0 out of 18 to 11 out of 13!! I have found the less miles the eggs are shipped the better.

HI I would send a email to that company and ask again about the shipping rates. I would ask why so high and then ask if you can work someing out for a lower rate on them both. I wouldn't think it would hurt to ask before you order. When I have asked about shipping most people will work with you on it.

I sent an email to the company to inquire about the shipping, so hopefully I will hear back from them soon! We will be using our own eggs to hatch for now so there won't be any travel time for them,, hopefully we'll get a good hatch rate.
