Question (and slight rant) about my new silkies

Well, I hatched one showgirl... she's black. I purchased 2 just yesterday, but no pics yet. This weekend. You know that Speckled Sussex I hatched that was supposed to be a silkie is so smart! He's really beginning to grow on me.

You can sell those chicks you don't want and surely make your money back. Just post down in the "Chicks for sale" area, I bet there are some locals on here that will want them...... At least on the batch that hatched maybe you can break even....... Too bad you're so far away or we could go in together....


(Insiderart is sneakily trying to talk her hatching buddy into hatching again.... maybe this fall.......)

I'm a little over an hour South from Lake Erie... between Erie & Pittsburgh.
I do have a couple people interested in them locally. I'm going to give 2 of the frizzle cochins to my neighbor's daughter. Her chickens were killed by a raccoon this spring & I bet she'd adore some special fancy chickens!

Ok, I have to ask....what is a frizzle and what is a sizzle???

The pic of the blue chick looks just like my blue silkies that came from Ideal Hatchery. How do you tell the difference between silkie, sizzle and frizzle?

Pics would be great also.

I'm thinking that I won't have the eggs until Thurs or Friday... if her hen laid any... then, if you take off a week for 21 days 'till hatch... that would be about the 18th - at the earliest - to set chicken eggs.
That's okay... you can probably get a hatch in before I even get my eggs, considering my luck!!

how can you tell they're going to be sizzles or crossbred silkies when theur primaries not even grown yet?

These two chicks are from the same hatch. Both are white silkies... 5 toes, dark skin.

Sorry that the pics are so dark, but you can definitely see that one chick has an obvious feathering issue.
