"Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never disappear." Matthew 24:32-35
"Everyone listening to Christ knew what He meant when He said, 'when the fig tree buds again.' What nation was Jesus referring to as the fig tree? He was talking about Israel. The generation that sees Israel reborn as a nation will not pass from the scene until all these things are fulfilled.
Israel was reborn as a nation on May 14th, 1948; this was the sign of the fig tree budding again. That began a countdown. A generation in the Bible refers to a group of people living at one time on the planet. God technically has until the last person is left who was alive when Israel was reborn as a nation, to give a time of grace for people to be saved. Therefore, you cannot say things like, 'Well, He could come today, or He could come 1,000 years from now; the important thing is that we're ready.' No, the generation that sees Israel reborn as a nation will not pass from the earth until all these things are fulfilled. That generation is getting very old. Not only is that generation coming to an end, but it was 2,000 years from Adam to Abraham and 2,000 years from Abraham to Christ. It has almost been 2,000 years since the Church began. We are in the final moments of the last days. The last days didn't begin in the 1980s, they began in 32 AD, and now we are in the final moments of the last days."
