Question for the Cochin lovers

we figured it out and are getting about 4 eggs a week from the girl cochin. Hope some of hers in the bator with hatch!

Are the banty cochins like the large cochins in respect to personality and laying?

a few years ago my sister in law gave me 2 large Cochins that she hatch in June and the hen didn't start laying until the following year around March/April and the other that we so hoped to be a hen (but had our doubts) started crowing around then too. Maybe our cold winter delayed the egg laying, but I was wondering if Cochins weren't late bloomers.

I have 16 girls that are 14 weeks now and if they want to wait till next spring to lay that's fine with me, they can just stand around and look pretty if thats what they want.

I had a couple little banty Cochins and they had the easy going personality for the most part but could hold their own if a big chicken tried to push them around (I figured that was the banty blood in them). As a matter of a fact one was the boss of the coup ... until the darn hawk came, (of course they have to take the favorites)
