Heat lamp!?!?Thanks for the helpI will put the heat lamp back on until I get this box built.
No...that area is too small for a heat lamp.
You will over heat them and they will die.

Yeah, I've been thinking the arbitrary 5 degrees a week is too overkill, and trying to figure out if there is a way to acclimate them more quickly, but then I think wth do I know, I'm a newbie...so idk. The temp in there right now with the lamp is 85 degrees. I forgot to mention I'm using a 75 w bulb. I was trying to figure out why you were freaking out but I just realized you probably thought I was trying to use the 250, lol.Too hot can cause slow growth.
My bad, yes I assumed you meant real heat lamp and freaked. Light bulb sounds much better. Would it ease your mind a little if I told you I kept freshly hatch little bitty quail babies at 80F and lowered it daily?Yeah, I've been thinking the arbitrary 5 degrees a week is too overkill, and trying to figure out if there is a way to acclimate them more quickly, but then I think wth do I know, I'm a newbie...so idk. That's awesome. They are fine as long as they are active, right? My biggest worry is that they will be fully feathered just in time for 20 degrees outside and I don't have a garage, and don't want them in the house til spring.Would it ease your mind a little if I told you I kept freshly hatch little bitty quail babies at 80F and lowered it daily?
Is your coop built and secure? If so why not move then out to it already?
