Question for y'all

Hey so with this heat plate that babies sit under at times to keep warm, does it need to be in a wooden box not plastic, or cardboard because it may melt plastic an cause fumes for chickens an not cardboard because fire possibly? Don't say in instructions manual, Thanks.

You can put it in plastic, no prob. It doesn't get that hot. If it did, the chicks would be killed just from the heat.

Just put it in the coop... If you already have other chickens separate of an area for the new ones.
