question from a child

I did tell her I didn't think it'd work, but then she said "you can get dyed seashells, if you give them those will you get bright pink eggs?"

which is logical, if you think about it!

let's just be grateful I'd already put the craft supplies away before the question occured...

Korma, Masala, and Balti are all too precious to risk them ingesting goodness-only-knows what kind of toxic dyes

(in the dyed shells she suggested next)

especially when the answer is "no"

and she doesn't live here to do her own testing, thank goodness!

the glitter is intended to be used on food, it's edible.
I don't think I'm going to be letting it be wasted though!

How about not feeding chickens things that were never meant to be food. Who knows what is in various brands of glitter?

Read the original question, if it is EDIBLE, I dont think it would hurt your chickens.

ORIGIAL POST :

If we put edible glitter in the grit for the chickens, will we get sparkly eggs?

To answer your question glitter would just come out as waste, sorta like drinking a lot of colored water it will not come out the other end blue/red/glittery (is glittery a color?? I think not, but its the goes with the point I am making)

That's right, but she said edible glitter - it's sugar based so a teensy amount wouldn't "hurt" - probably no worse than part of a doughnut or even a waffle.

that's right, it's sold for cake decorating so is completely edible.

they probably would love it, based off their preferences for their treats tray (aka kitchen scraps) -

anything with sugar goes first
anything made from bread or pastry second
cucumber goes third
anything else is last

they've been here for nearly 2 months, aren't bothered by who brings their treats (usually me) but do recognise the tray the treats are delivered on

thank you all for the answers. I'll email her the URL so she can see that I wasn't just making it up when I said "no"
