QUESTION - how do you find battery hens for adoption?

When I got mine I used google. For example (in your case) you might put in . Hen Rescue Centers in Arkansas or Ex Battery Hens for adoption in Arkansas. Good luck with your search and I think what you are doing is fantastic and a great example for all people who want to get more hens and could use ex-batts to give them a better life and they are also very good layers

i think i should do that...cuz we're getting our pullets from destiny farms near us, and my mom says that next year we can get a couple extras, so the couple extras could be ex battery hens!

Thanks for that tip. Most of the commercial farms around here are broiler houses, but I know the next county over is mostly battery houses.

What a wonderful idea! Good to know for (future for me at least) future additions to the flock, and good to know that it can be started with a simple internet search.

Hens kept in tight confinement in commercial egg laying houses.
I wasn't able to come up with anything by doing a search, but I have a neighbor that has worked in all aspects of the chicken business for Tyson for many years. Gonna ask him next time I see him.
