Question of the Day - Friday, June 7th, 2024

My earliest memories are from when I was three years old.
  • My father going to the hospital in an ambulance
  • Falling out of a little red wagon
  • Getting caught by the apartment manager at the top of the stairs
hard to tell. I have a memory of a hospital, probably after one of the surgeries I had as a kid. (I have a rare condition called Prune Belly.)

I remember lying in a crib, and feeling a painful tightness in my abdomen. thinking of it now, after a more recent surgery, (when I was eight, so still half my life ago lol) they might have been testing my reflexes, or taking out a problematic stitch. I remember looking around, my eyes eventually resting on the doll in my hand. It was made in the shape of a small purple pegasus, with plastic hair as opposed to the usual wig-like material. It was small, not a choking hazard, just something you wouldn't typically give a little kid. That part always puzzled me, until I learned my older brother went through a pony phase when he was around four years old. My dad insists that I'm remembering a dream, as he's got no recollection of this event. I may have believed it to be a dream too, if not for the fact that I still have the doll, A 2006 My Little Pony Starsong, manufactured and sold a year before I was born. The doll was a gift from my brother, and the memory a gift from my awful genetics. Thanks, rare disease!

I have a memory of my mom putting a diaper on me and then me saying "it's bulky" lol. Early memories are notoriously unreliable, though aside from that, I can't think of any particular reason to doubt that one.
