I am learning to tell Canadian accent from American accent. I am thinking that if the person sounded almost like American, but not quite, then it is a Canadian accent❤️😄
Easy. If they apologize or say "eh", or "Aboot", they're Canadian. :p
 
Often. People can't place it, or recognise parts and wonder how that fits in with the rest. It changes a lot depending on where I am and who I'm talking to.
Yes, I was asked if my accent was south GA by someone from Massachusetts. Which was crazy because I'd never met the person and he knew where I was from just from the way my draw sounded!
I can pin folk of my dad's generation down to the specific part of the town he grew up in within a sentence or two of first hearing them speak.

My mother told me that when I was little, that a kid on the playground asked if I was American because of my accent. I still have an odd mix of Pennsylvania and Brooklyn.
 
No. I have no accent and everyone here sounds the same as me so...
