Question of the Day - Monday, November 17th, 2025

What about when you was a kid?
Oh...my day when I was kid...sad walk down memory land. The beating was ...now is classified as illegal!!

Dad made us kneel on our knees for hours on end whenever we got the multiplication table wrong, and we got beat up with a stick too.

My brother especially was naughty fighting with the neighbourhood kids, he was around 10 - 12 then and my dad was heavy hand with him. It impacted his life negatively. He is very unsure of himself so always trike to do better, want to be like by other people and very successful in his career. Very stressful to be like that.

My brother used to like to wear dresses, he was about.. no more than 5 years old at that time and dad beat him with a stick whenever he put on my dress. Mom screamed and he locked her in the bathroom.

I think that how that generation was. In our 20, we told my dad how horrible he was, but he did not get it. He understood that much later on because he saw it on tv..etc.. My dad is a very strick person still to this day.

After my parents divorced when my brother was about 13, we lived with mom so no beating. If my parents did not divorce my brother would be a very different person.

@SkyAJK I’m very sorry ☹️

I was spanked but never in a way that actually taught me anything. I was spanked because I made a mistake or did something stupid, usually out of youthful ignorance, that upset mother, and then Dad would catch me and beat me with his belt. It wasn't about teaching you anything so you wouldn't make the same mistake again, it was about punishment, which is bloody stupid. Children are ignorant and careless and need to be taught, not smacked. What I did learn was how to be a better parent.
